The effect of tumor motion due to respiration represents a significant challenge for lung cancer treatments. In order to observe and compensate the anatomic changes induced by breathing, 4 dimensional (4D) techniques for imaging, treatment planning and dose delivery were developed and are clinically explored. To continue research in this field and to make advances in respiration management techniques like breath hold, gating and tracking an anthropomorphic phantom is needed that is able to mimic breathing motion. In this Master project an in-house developed respiration phantom called the Advanced Radiation Dosimetry System (ARDOS), was used in order to investigate motion effects of the tumor during imaging and treatment.
